Introduction
POST MALONE AND TRAVIS TRITT BRING DOWN THE HOUSE WITH “T.R.O.U.B.L.E.” AT OPRY’S 100TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
While award shows like the Grammys and Billboard Music Awards honor chart success and industry achievements, tonight belonged entirely to the Grand Ole Opry—the heart and history of country music. Celebrating its remarkable 100th anniversary, NBC’s Opry 100: A Live Celebration gathered some of the genre’s biggest stars under one legendary roof. With performances from Jelly Roll, Reba McEntire, Trace Adkins, Blake Shelton, and more, the night was already stacked with talent. But one of the most surprising and electrifying moments came when Post Malone joined forces with Travis Tritt for a powerhouse rendition of the country classic “T.R.O.U.B.L.E.”
The performance brought together two artists from very different musical worlds, yet the result was pure chemistry. Malone, who ventured into country music last summer with his album F-1 Trillion, has quickly earned respect for his versatility and authentic admiration for the genre. Tritt, on the other hand, is a seasoned hitmaker who helped define ’90s country with his signature grit and Southern swagger.
Their duet paid tribute to a song with its own rich lineage. Written by Jerry Chesnut in the 1970s after being inspired by musician Little David Wilkins, “T.R.O.U.B.L.E.” first took off when Elvis Presley recorded it—making it an instant entry into the country-rock canon. Decades later, Travis Tritt revived the track on his 1992 album T-R-O-U-B-L-E, and his version climbed to No. 13 on the U.S. charts, becoming one of his most recognizable hits.

Given that legacy, Tritt was a natural choice for the Opry’s centennial celebration. His history with the song—and his enduring influence on the country genre—made his appearance a highlight long before Malone stepped onto the stage. But when the two joined forces, the audience erupted, cheering for the unlikely duo whose voices blended with surprising ease.
Before the performance, host Blake Shelton took a moment to honor country icon Ronnie Milsap, setting a reverent tone for the evening’s tributes. Fans quickly took to social media, praising the collaboration, celebrating Tritt’s return to the spotlight, and applauding Malone’s continued embrace of country storytelling.
As the Grand Ole Opry marks 100 years of musical history, the Malone–Tritt performance served as a powerful reminder: country music’s past, present, and future remain beautifully connected—sometimes in the most unexpected ways
