Introduction:
Travis Tritt’s Greatest Hits: His Three Kids
While Travis Tritt has earned multiple Grammy Awards, he considers his most rewarding role to be that of a father to his three children: Tyler Reese, Tristan, and Tarian.
Since marrying his wife, Theresa Nelson, in 1997, the couple has built a family, welcoming daughter Tyler Reese in 1998, followed by sons Tristan in 1999 and Tarian in 2003.
“Of all the jobs I’ve had in my lifetime, being an involved and dedicated father has been the job I’m most proud of,” Tritt shared on Instagram in June 2024. “At times, it has been one of the most difficult jobs I’ve ever had, but also one of the most rewarding.”
The country music icon’s passion for music has been passed down to his eldest children, Tyler Reese and Tristan, who are also making their own marks in the industry.
“Nothing has made me prouder than not only watching my children grow up but knowing that they want to be a part of the family business,” he told PEOPLE in May 2021. He often advises them to “live your life” and “do what makes you happy,” encouraging them to stay true to themselves.
Here’s a closer look at Travis Tritt’s kids.
Tyler Reese Tritt, 27
Born on February 18, 1998, Tyler Reese Tritt has always been drawn to music. She found her passion for singing at just three years old. At 12, she bravely sang Carrie Underwood’s “I Ain’t in Checotah Anymore” for her dad. Initially nervous about his candid feedback, she was thrilled when he told her mom that she “got it.”
This was the start of their musical collaboration. At 14, she recorded a duet with her dad, “Sometimes Love Just Ain’t Enough,” which solidified her desire to pursue a career in country music.
Although Tritt initially tried to discourage her by highlighting the challenges of the music business, Tyler Reese remained determined. “I hate to break it to you, but I ain’t giving this up,” she told RFD TV in June 2024.
With her dad’s support, she agreed to build her own career without riding on his fame. “I didn’t want to just come in and ride his coattails,” she explained. “I am my own person and my own voice, and I want to make my own name.”
Since then, Tyler Reese has released singles like “Perfect” and “Texas Hold Him,” and has toured with artists such as Sheryl Crow. Despite his superstar status, she sees him simply as “my goofball dad.”
Tristan Tritt, 26
Tristan Tritt, born June 16, 1999, has also found his calling in music, though he prefers rock and what he calls “Y’allternative.”
Tritt is immensely proud of his son’s drive. “I’m amazed by his talent and his tremendous amount of drive and motivation,” he told PEOPLE. “If he isn’t writing, he’s rehearsing or he’s producing or he’s handling his own bookings. It’s just great to watch.”
Inspired by artists like Motörhead and Ozzy Osbourne, Tristan released his first EP, WHAT ARE WE DOING?, in August 2024. He learned guitar from his dad and sometimes posts videos of them performing together, like his rendition of his father’s “Best of Intentions.”
Tarian Tritt, 21
The youngest of the family, Tarian Tritt, was born on November 20, 2003. Unlike his older siblings, he maintains a low profile, with private social media accounts.
While he stays out of the public eye, his dad often posts birthday tributes, praising him for being a “strong, respectful, polite, kind and hard working man.” Tritt also shared a photo of Tarian playing the drums, hinting at his own musical talents.
During the 2020 pandemic, Tritt enjoyed having more time at home with his wife and Tarian, calling it “the silver lining of the cloud.”
