Watch The Ella Langley Cover That Prompted Reba McEntire’s Last-Second Chair Turn On The Voice
Reba McEntire proved that sometimes the best decisions are made at the very last second.
During the latest round of blind auditions on The Voice, 23-year-old Leyton Robinson, an aspiring country artist from Rogers, Arkansas, now based in Nashville, took the stage with a heartfelt cover of Ella Langley’s “Weren’t For The Wind.” The song, one of Langley’s breakout hits from the deluxe edition of her debut record Still Hungover, has quickly become a fan favorite.
Robinson’s performance immediately caught the attention of Snoop Dogg, who turned his chair early on. But in a dramatic twist, just moments before the final notes, Reba McEntire hit her button too—surprising the audience and Robinson alike.
“I turned early because the way you sound, the way you made me feel, the energy that you had moving around on stage—I feel like we belong together,” Snoop praised after the performance.
Reba, however, made it clear why she couldn’t resist turning at the last moment:
“Leyton, you’re cute as a button,” she said warmly. “I loved your singing. I already have several country artists on my team, but the more you sang, the more I fell in love with your voice. I would love to have you on my team.”
Robinson now faces the enviable decision of choosing between Snoop and Reba—two very different but equally passionate coaches who see big potential in his artistry.
