Ella Langley Makes History With Riley Green Duet “You Look Like You Love Me” Hitting No.1

Ella Langley just earned her first-ever No.1 single on the Billboard Country Airplay chart thanks to her duet with Riley Green, “You Look Like You Love Me.” The song reached the top spot this week, giving Langley her first career No.1 and marking Green’s second leader on the chart.

What makes this achievement even more significant is its historic context: Langley is the first female artist of 2024 to score a No.1 on the Country Airplay chart. According to Billboard, she’s also the first woman to top the chart since Lainey Wilson’s collaborations in late 2023—first with Jelly Roll on “Save Me” in December, and before that with “Watermelon Moonshine” in October.

By breaking through this week, Langley snapped a 51-week streak without a woman at the top of the chart—the longest such drought since the record-setting 61-week gap in 2003–2004.

The lack of female representation on country radio has been a long-standing issue. The conversation resurfaced during the infamous 2015 “Tomato-gate” controversy, when a radio consultant compared female artists to “tomatoes in a salad,” implying they should be played sparingly. Nearly a decade later, Langley’s success is both a personal victory and a meaningful milestone for women in the format.

Langley co-wrote “You Look Like You Love Me” with Riley Green and Aaron Raitiere. The duet has already brought the pair major recognition, including a CMA Award for Musical Event of the Year and a performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. While in New York for the late-night appearance, Langley and Green were surprised with platinum plaques celebrating the single’s sales milestone.

The song’s cinematic Western-inspired music video, released in August, even features a cameo from country legend Jamey Johnson. It appears on the deluxe edition of Langley’s debut album Still Hungover, which dropped earlier this year with new tracks “Girl You’re Taking Home” and “20-20” alongside fan favorites like “Weren’t For The Wind” and *“Made It Out of Mexico (Acoustic).”

Looking ahead, Langley and Green will reunite on the road in 2025 for Green’s Damn Country Music Tour, which sold over 100,000 tickets in just eight hours. Langley will also headline her own Still Hungover Tour, which sold out within hours of its announcement.

With a No.1 hit, a platinum single, and two tours on the horizon, Ella Langley has proven she’s one of country music’s most exciting rising stars—and her historic chart-topping moment is only the beginning.
