Introduction:
Travis Tritt Reveals His Dream Duet Partner — and It’s a Legend
With decades of experience and a long list of hits behind him, Travis Tritt could likely team up with just about anyone for a duet. But when asked about his dream collaboration, Tritt didn’t hesitate—he would pick none other than Elvis Presley.
“I would probably want to sing The Trilogy with Elvis,” Tritt said during an appearance on Circle Country. He was referring to An American Trilogy, a medley Presley made famous in 1972, which combined “Dixie,” “The Battle Hymn of the Republic,” and “All My Trials.”
Tritt shared how deeply Presley shaped his own love for music. “I remember being so influenced by him as a kid,” he explained. “Watching him on television, the thing that impressed me so much was the fact that he could do anything. He could do rock, gospel, blues, country—and everything he did, he was great at. I didn’t even know at that time that I’d ever be in this business, but I thought, if I ever became a singer, I would want to do it like that guy, covering a bunch of different genres and trying to do them all well.”
A Voice Beyond Music: Tritt’s Political Stand
Tritt has never shied away from speaking his mind, both in music and beyond. While he remains active in the studio and on stage, he has also used his platform to share his political beliefs. One recent example is his song A Shiny City On A Hill, written for the Reagan biopic starring Dennis Quaid.
“I was reminded of his constant vision of a shining city on a hill,” Tritt told Wide Open Country. “That idea struck me like a lightning bolt, and I immediately wrote the song.”
The track became an important part of the film’s soundtrack, even though Tritt originally penned it just for himself. “I’m thrilled and honored that my song will be included on this collection of songs inspired by the film,” he said.
Producer Mark Joseph praised the contribution, noting, “Travis captured the spirit of the film and of Reagan with his song.”
From his dream of singing with Elvis to crafting songs that reflect his personal convictions, Travis Tritt continues to prove that his artistry reaches far beyond the boundaries of country music tradition.
