Real Country' Adds Travis Tritt as Judge

Travis Tritt Joins Shania Twain and Jake Owen as Judge on Real Country

Real Country, a new USA Network singing competition executive produced by Shania Twain, has officially added Travis Tritt as its third judge.

The eight-episode series will feature Twain, Jake Owen, and Tritt hand-picking from a roster of solo artists, groups, and duos. Contestants will perform in weekly showcases, with the most promising acts advancing to the grand finale for a shot at being crowned one of country music’s next breakout stars.

Filming will take place in Nashville during the summer of 2018. Twain serves as co-executive producer alongside Nicolle Yaron (The Voice, Rising Star), Stijn Bakkers (The Voice), and Leslie Garvin (Shark Tank).

Tritt, known for seven No. 1 hits and a string of chart-topping albums, promises to bring a direct and authentic perspective to the judging panel. “I’ve been influenced by so many amazing country artists in my career, and the key to longevity is using those influences as inspiration to become something unique,” the “Best of Intentions” singer shared.

“I’ve never been shy about how I feel about country music, so I can’t wait to join Real Country to share my experiences and thoughts. Like I always say… if you don’t want my opinion, don’t ask me a question.”

Twain added that her goal is to use the series as a way to support and spotlight new voices in the genre. “I feel it’s time for me to add my own support in finding our greatest undiscovered talent,” she explained. “I’m on a mission to find artists who will keep country music diverse and dynamic — the kind of diversity that inspired all of us.”

Real Country is set to premiere in fall 2018.
