Though Avery isn’t visible in the video, his sweet voice is clearly heard singing along to a George Strait classic. When McCreery playfully asked, “Who sings that song?” Avery’s confident reply, “George Strait,” confirmed his early appreciation for the King of Country.
Avery, whose full name is Merrick Avery McCreery, was born on October 24, 2022, to Scotty and his wife, Gabi McCreery. Weighing in at 7 lbs, 13 oz, Avery, named in tribute to Gabi’s father, Merrick (Tre) Dugal III, instantly captured his parents’ hearts. McCreery shared at the time that he had “never known a love like this.”
It’s no surprise that Avery is gravitating towards George Strait, given his dad’s well-documented admiration for the legend. McCreery’s 2021 hit, “Damn Strait,” was penned as a direct homage to the iconic artist.
