Introduction:
Lainey Wilson Brings Ella Langley On Stage To Fill In For Miranda Lambert
Country fans got a major surprise Thursday night (October 2) when Ella Langley joined Lainey Wilson on stage during the Whirlwind tour — stepping in for Miranda Lambert on their duet “Good Horses.”
“Y’all welcome to the stage, my girl, Ella Langley!” Wilson shouted, as the crowd erupted in cheers. Langley’s powerful presence and chemistry with Wilson made the moment one of the highlights of the night. The song, originally recorded by Wilson and Lambert for Whirlwind and its deluxe edition, took on a fresh energy with Langley’s fiery delivery.
Wilson has long praised Langley as both a collaborator and a kindred spirit. “She’s kind of like my little sister,” Wilson told iHeartCountry. “She’s got this spunk to her that I’m like, ‘there ain’t no stoppin’ this chick.’ She’s a go-getter and one of the most talented people I know. I’m proud of her.”
Earlier this year, Wilson also reflected on the rise of Langley and fellow star Megan Moroney: “To watch their stars just soaring — it’s really cool. My advice is to stay grounded, work hard, but also celebrate how far they’ve come.”
Lambert, who was unable to appear at the show, has often spoken with equal warmth about both artists. Calling Langley “my soul sister in country music and a partner in crime,” Lambert shared earlier this year how proud she was to see both Langley and Wilson shaping the genre’s future.
Lambert also recently wrote a heartfelt tribute for TIME’s 100 Next list, praising Wilson’s authenticity: “She’s a light. She’s funny and full of joy. What she does doesn’t define her — who she is does. She’s already a legend.”
Thursday’s performance proved that same spirit of unity and empowerment runs deep among country’s leading women. And for Ella Langley, the night marked another milestone — stepping into the spotlight not just as a rising star, but as one of country music’s most exciting new voices.
