Ella Langley is giving fans an early look at her next single — and it’s one that’s already breaking hearts. The rising country star shared a sneak peek of her soon-to-debut song, “Choosin’ Texas,” a soulful ballad she co-wrote with country icon Miranda Lambert.
In the teaser clip posted Tuesday (October 14), Langley sets the scene from a dimly lit bar, where she sits alone nursing a drink while watching a cowboy dance with another woman across the room. The song unfolds like a cinematic heartbreak, capturing the ache of realizing that sometimes love just isn’t enough — especially when Texas is calling.
Langley sings with quiet devastation:
“Just when I thought I got him to fall in love with Tennessee
I should’ve known better than to take him back to Abilene
Put him right back into her arms
I wasn’t a match for that kind of spark
She’s from Texas, I can tell by the way
He’s two-steppin’ ‘round the room
And judgin’ by the smile that’s written on his face, there’s nothin’ I can do
It doesn’t take a crystal ball to see
A cowboy always finds a way to leave
Drinkin’ Jack all by myself
He’s choosin’ Texas, I can tell”
The track marks another powerful collaboration between Langley and Lambert, who previously joined forces on stage at the 60th Academy of Country Music Awards earlier this year. They co-wrote the song with acclaimed writers Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor, blending Lambert’s trademark storytelling with Langley’s emotional edge.
“Choosin’ Texas” is set for official release on Friday (October 17), and fans are already calling it one of Langley’s most personal and evocative songs yet. With vivid lyrics and raw vulnerability, the single promises to be a standout moment in her upcoming musical era.
