Country music icon Travis Tritt is grieving the death of his longtime tour manager and close friend, Scott Minkley, who passed away after a battle with cancer. The Georgia native shared the heartbreaking news with fans in an emotional post on social media Wednesday morning.
A Heartfelt Tribute
Alongside photos of himself with Minkley, Tritt wrote, “It is with tremendous sadness when I say that I lost one of the most incredible people that has ever worked for me today. My tour manager, production manager and monitor engineer, Scott Minkley lost his battle with cancer this morning.”
Calling Minkley his “right-hand man” for nearly two decades, the “T-R-O-U-B-L-E” singer praised his friend’s dedication, professionalism, and loyalty.
“His acumen, knowledge and dedication to his job will forever be unsurpassed. He was one in a million and I’ll never find another like him,” Tritt shared.
More Than a Working Relationship
The bond between Tritt and Minkley extended well beyond the road.
“In addition to being an outstanding employee, Scott was a dear friend to me, my family and almost everyone he came in contact with,” Tritt said. “This is a tremendous loss that will hurt deeply for a very long time. I’m extremely blessed to have known him and to have had him work for me so diligently for so many years.”
Tritt closed his tribute with a spiritual message: “God bless Scott Minkley! May he rest in the arms of Jesus until I see him again in heaven. My deepest condolences go out to his family and friends. In remembrance of Scott, please do something special and good for someone today.”
Remembered by Fans and Friends
Following Tritt’s post, fans and fellow country stars quickly flooded the comments with condolences. Musician John Rich wrote, “Brother, so sorry to hear this. Guys we work with on the road become family in every sense of the word. We’ll be thinking about you and the boys today.”
Others shared heartfelt messages, offering prayers and support to Tritt and Minkley’s family.
Nearly Two Decades on the Road Together
According to his LinkedIn profile, Scott Minkley began working with Tritt in March 2005, serving as Tour Manager, Production Manager, and Sound Engineer for more than 18 years. Before that, he worked as Head Engineer for Thunder Audio Inc. for a decade.
On his public Facebook page, Minkley often expressed his pride in being part of Tritt’s team. In 2019, he wrote: “After 10 days in a row with the boss he has absolutely killed it. I’m so proud to be associated with TT. He is a true pro. Most artists could not even handle 10 in a row and he killed it.”
In another post, he added, “Long ass days but blessed to be working with the greatest, most iconic voice in country music.”

Despite the devastating loss, Tritt is scheduled to perform this weekend with concerts planned in Chattanooga, Tennessee (Oct. 12), Tallahassee, Florida (Oct. 13), and Florence, South Carolina (Oct. 14). It remains unclear whether these shows will be impacted.
