Standing out front of our little farmhouse today, Indy stopped me in my tracks.
She had on her favorite pink T-shirt, her boots dusted from the yard, and that sweet little matching bag slung over her shoulder like she was headed somewhere important. And that smile — that bright, effortless smile — it felt like pure sunshine breaking through the day. More than once, folks have told me it looks just like her mama’s. I see it too. Every time.
Moments like this remind me how much grace God gives us, often quietly, often in ways we don’t even realize until we pause long enough to notice. Indy has come so far. Not just growing taller, but growing kinder, braver, and stronger on the inside. Watching her become who she’s becoming is one of the greatest gifts of my life.
There are days that still feel heavy, days when memories rush in without warning. But then there are days like today — simple, ordinary, and holy in their own way — when gratitude outweighs everything else.
I thank God every single day for His mercy, for His patience, and for the way He continues to carry us forward. Indy is growing up so beautifully, inside and out, and I couldn’t be more proud of her.
I thought I’d share this little moment with y’all. I hope it brings a smile to your heart the same way it brought one to mine.
