Scotty McCreery Still Watches American Idol 14 Years After Win | Us Weekly

Fourteen years after being crowned the “American Idol” champion, Scotty McCreery remains a devoted fan of the show that launched his career. The country music star, now 31, recently revealed in an exclusive interview that he and his wife, Gabi, still tune in every week.

“I still reminisce all the time,” McCreery shared, recalling the whirlwind experience that saw him win season 10 in May 2011. He even stumbled upon old emails detailing his audition process and Hollywood week itineraries, marveling at how quickly time has flown.

Life has certainly transformed for McCreery since his “American Idol” days. He married Gabi Dugal in 2018, and they welcomed their son, Avery, in 2022. Just last month, the couple announced they’re expecting their second child.

“Being a dad is the biggest thing that’s ever happened to me, for sure,” McCreery expressed. He gushed about watching his two-and-a-half-year-old son grow and talk “a mile a minute,” admitting that “having two is going to be insane. It’s the coolest, best thing I’ve ever done.”

When he’s not enjoying family time with soccer games or strawberry picking, McCreery is busy on the road and in the studio. He’s currently on tour and recently collaborated with Hootie & the Blowfish on a new track called “Bottle Rockets.” The song, inspired by summer soundtracks, even features a familiar voice – that of Darius Rucker and the rest of the band.

“If you’re a Hootie & the Blowfish fan, I think you might love this song,” McCreery teased, noting it was a fun, unique venture for him.
