Scotty McCreery Teases Family Plans While Touring in the U.K. Over the Summer: 'It'll Be a Good Time' (Exclusive)

Scotty McCreery is navigating the beautiful chaos of tour life with a new addition to the family! The country star recently opened up about his partnership with U.S. Cellular for their “Hometown Connection” initiative, his deep ties to his North Carolina roots, and the joys and challenges of being a dad on the road.

McCreery emphasized the significance of his hometown, Garner, NC, in shaping his journey. “My hometown in Garner was humongous for me right from the start and uh supported me through and through, gave me the confidence to kind of go outside of the hometown and and try to expand,” he shared. This deep connection explains why he continues to call North Carolina home despite career opportunities in Nashville. For Scotty, it’s about the people, the friendships, and the memories he cherishes. He’s found a “Best of Both Worlds” scenario, staying connected to his roots while pursuing his music.

Fatherhood has brought a new dimension to Scotty’s life and career. When asked about making time with his wife, Gabi, now that they have their son, Avery, he admitted, “we gotta really it’s work at it more you know than we used to.” To make it work, the McCreerys are bringing their “baby bus” on tour this year. Scotty excitedly shared that Avery had his first sleep on the bus recently and that it went well. Having his family on the road is a huge plus for the singer, who confessed, “I do get to missing home, I get to miss in my life and I get to miss my kids so this is selfishly it’s huge for me and hopefully for them too that we all get to hang together and have a year together on the road.”

To make the bus feel like home for little Avery, they’ve converted a bunk into a crib and brought along his toys and familiar items from his nursery. While Avery is still young, Scotty playfully hinted at a possible future duet, noting that his son seems to enjoy his constant singing.

Date nights look a little different these days. Scotty revealed they’ve only had one since Avery’s arrival, thanks to the grandparents stepping in for babysitting. A quiet dinner where they could “take a deep breath and exhale” was a welcome respite.

Gabi, a nurse, is currently not practicing to join Scotty on the road, which he finds incredibly comforting. “She eases my my worries a lot of times,” he explained. As for expanding their family, they’re focused on Avery for now, but with Gabi coming from a large family, Scotty joked they might end up somewhere “in the middle” regarding the number of future kids.

Reflecting on his impressive five consecutive number one hits on Billboard’s country charts, Scotty named “Five More Minutes” as a particularly special song. “It’s my baby,” he said, recalling how it still gets him emotional during performances.

Having Avery has also shifted the meaning of some of his older songs. “‘This Is It,’ you know, for me and my wife, we grew up together…to me it was always strictly about her, but now I sing it, I’m kind of seeing the family and seeing Avery and uh just seeing what us as a team we’ve created, so it’s uh pretty special now to sing that song and see where we are.”

Fatherhood has also influenced his career decisions. “The power of saying no to some things is is becoming a big thing for me and realizing hey man, you’re a father now, I want to be there for my kid.” While still working hard, Scotty is now more selective to prioritize family time.

Unfortunately, due to his tour schedule, Scotty won’t be able to attend the upcoming ACM Awards but will be watching anxiously. While he enjoys dressing up for award shows occasionally, he admits he’s more comfortable in “blue jeans and a t-shirt.”

Looking ahead, Scotty is open to incorporating his family into future music videos, having previously featured his wedding day in the “This Is It” video and Gabi’s pregnancy journey in “It Matters to Her.”

When asked about dream collaborations, Garth Brooks tops his list, and he also expressed admiration for Elvis Presley.

As for parenting hacks, Scotty raved about a “magic sleeping suit” that helps Avery sleep soundly through the night.

Fans can connect with Scotty on the U.S. Cellular Instagram Channel for an “Ask Me Anything” session on April 5th and catch him at Summerfest in Milwaukee in July with U.S. Cellular.

It’s clear that family and his roots remain central to Scotty McCreery’s life as he navigates his successful music career and the joys of fatherhood.
