Riley Keough’s Bold Tribute at Graceland Sparks Debate Among Elvis Fans

Riley Keough, granddaughter of Elvis Presley, has stirred both admiration and controversy with the release of her newest short documentary In Process. Shot entirely at the legendary Graceland estate, the six-and-a-half-minute black-and-white film offers a deeply personal reflection on Riley’s creative journey, family memories, and emotional connection to the house that once belonged to “The King.”

The film features scenes of Riley and fellow actors lounging on the famous furniture, enjoying a picnic on the back lawn, dancing in the Jungle Room, and even swimming in the pool. For Riley, Graceland is not just a museum — it’s a childhood home full of life, laughter, and southern meals shared with her mother, Lisa Marie Presley. “It felt very full of family… cousins running around,” Riley recalls in the film. “It didn’t feel like a museum.”

However, not all Elvis fans are thrilled. Some believe Riley’s decision to film inside the iconic rooms crossed a line. One visitor who recently toured Graceland commented, “It’s unsettling to see people sitting on furniture that’s usually roped off for public viewing.” Another added, “The pool table Elvis used should be preserved, not played on.”

Despite this, many fans have expressed support. “Riley owns the home now, and she’s celebrating it the way Elvis and Lisa did — as a real place filled with life,” one supporter wrote. The film even echoes moments from Elvis’s past, like Riley lying in her great-grandparents’ bedroom — a nod to vintage photos of Elvis.

This isn’t Riley’s first creative endeavor at Graceland. In December 2023, she hosted the Elvis Christmas Special, which featured performances filmed across the property. With the 50th anniversary of Elvis’s passing approaching in 2027, Riley is taking an active role in shaping how his legacy lives on.

Whether you see it as heartfelt or irreverent, In Process raises a powerful question: Should Graceland remain a silent museum, or can it also be a living tribute? One thing’s clear — Riley is not afraid to make Graceland her own, even as she honors her family’s storied past.
