Morgan Wallen Opens Up About His Struggles to His Son

Country star Morgan Wallen is offering a deeply personal glimpse into his journey as a father and the impact of his public life on his son, Indigo, in a powerful new track he recently shared. Titled “Superman,” the song sees Wallen candidly addressing his past struggles and how he envisions discussing them with his son as he grows older.

Wallen previewed a snippet of the heartfelt tune, explaining the difficulty he faced in crafting such a personal song about his child. He revealed lyrics that directly confront his concerns, such as, “One day he’s going to see my mugshot from a night when I got a little too drunk, hear a song about a girl that I lost from the times when I just wouldn’t grow up.”

In a social media post accompanying the song’s reveal, Wallen elaborated on the significance of “Superman.” “Been trying for a long time to write a song I love to my son,” he wrote. “None of them ever feel good enough because of how perfect I want something like this to be and not saying this is perfect but I am very proud of it.”

Indigo, whom Wallen shares with ex-partner KT Smith, was born on July 10, 2020. At the time of his son’s birth, Wallen expressed the profound shift in perspective that fatherhood brought. He shared, “Since you came into the world Friday I see mine differently now. It’s not just me anymore and I’m glad it’s not. This year has been the hardest of my life in so many ways but that’s not what I will remember it by. You are a gift and this tough year just made sense. I’ll be the dad you deserve as well as the co-parent your mother deserves. Since you were born I know that every decision I make will be with you in mind.”

Fans are eagerly anticipating the full release of “Superman,” which promises to be one of Wallen’s most vulnerable and impactful songs to date.
