Introduction:
Miranda Lambert and Ella Langley: Mentorship and Sisterhood in Country Music
A performance at the ACM Awards in May has blossomed into a meaningful creative partnership between two generations of country stars: Miranda Lambert and newcomer Ella Langley.
The duo marked the 20th anniversary of Miranda’s seminal album, Kerosene, by performing the title track together, a moment that sparked a growing friendship.
Miranda, who will be competing against Langley and Lainey Wilson for the Female Vocalist trophy at the upcoming CMA Awards in November, sees herself as a mentor to the younger artist.
“I love her,” Miranda stated. “We’ve been writing together and I’m just helping with part of her next era, I guess, in her music. And I love being there to help guide whatever she needs because I just think she’s our next legend, and I’m excited to see when the world figures that out.”
She added, “I think it’s happening now, which is amazing.”
The Country Sisterhood
This connection is part of a larger theme of solidarity among country music’s top women. The same night at the ACM Awards, Miranda also debuted her new track “Trailblazer” with Reba McEntire and Lainey Wilson, highlighting the bond between them.
Miranda views their relationships in terms of a familial hierarchy: “I feel like I’m like big sister to Ella, and we’ve got Lainey, middle sister, and we’ve got Reba, older sister, and it just feels like a good sisterhood to be in.”
This supportive “sisterhood” will take center stage at the CMAs, where Miranda, Lainey, and Ella will all vie for the coveted Female Vocalist of the Year award.
