JASON AND BRITTANY ALDEAN RELEASE FIRST DUET IN HEARTBREAKING TRIBUTE
Country music fans have long awaited a duet from Jason Aldean and his wife, Brittany, an American Idol alumna. The couple had always said they were waiting for the “perfect song at the perfect time.” Tragically, that moment arrived following a national tragedy.
The Aldeans have released their first-ever duet—a powerful, acoustic cover of Luke Bryan’s “Drink a Beer”—as a solemn tribute to their late friend, conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, who was reportedly assassinated in Utah just weeks ago.
The black-and-white, stripped-down video features Jason playing the acoustic guitar and singing the first verse, before Brittany joins him for an emotional performance that has resonated with millions.
Honoring a Friend on Stage
The duet wasn’t the only way Jason Aldean paid his respects. During a concert just one day after the tragedy, Aldean paused his show to deliver a heartfelt speech, dedicating his hit “Try That in a Small Town” to Kirk.
Aldean praised Kirk as an “amazing person” and “one of the best people ever,” condemning the environment where people are “taking people out because you disagree with their opinions.”
He highlighted that Kirk was one of the first figures to publicly “stand up for this song” when it was facing criticism, asserting that Kirk wanted “nothing more than what was best for all of us.”
“Charlie’s a guy that’s going to be very very much missed,” Aldean stated, acknowledging that Kirk’s legacy “is going to live on forever with Turning Point and what he’s done with only 31 years on this planet.”
The Aldeans continue to honor Kirk’s life and legacy through their music, transforming a long-awaited artistic moment into a tribute born of collective grief.
