Tongi first captured global attention in 2023 with his unforgettable audition performance of James Blunt’s “Monsters,” a tribute to his late father, Rodney, who passed away in 2021. His heartfelt delivery moved judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie to tears, and the video quickly went viral, cementing him as one of American Idol’s most beloved contestants.
After winning the competition, Tongi released his debut album From Kahuku to the World in 2024.
