Introduction
Country music stars Riley Green and Ella Langley continue to fuel fan speculation about their relationship status, even as they enjoy a thriving professional partnership. The duo, known for their hit duet ‘You Look Like You Love Me,’ recently collaborated again on ‘Don’t Mind If I Do,’ featured on Riley’s latest album of the same name.
Despite the undeniable chemistry in their music, both artists have consistently stated they are just good friends. Ella Langley previously told Taste of Country magazine, “We’re not dating, we’re just good friends.” Now, Riley Green has offered his own playful take on the persistent “shipping” by fans.
During an appearance on Nick Viall’s The Viall Files podcast, the 36-year-old singer jokingly remarked, “Yeah [we’re just friends.] I mean, Ella’s probably too smart to date me anyway!”
Green acknowledged that he understands why fans are so invested in their dynamic. “I think that’s the country music fan, like they love the Tim McGraws and Faiths and the George and Tammys,” he explained, referencing iconic country couples. “People want to believe [in those country loves].”
He also revealed that he anticipated the rumors when ‘You Look Like You Love Me’ first gained traction. “When we first started having the success we did with that song I kind of told Ella I was like: ‘You know there’s going to be a lot of things said, but I mean, we don’t really got to play into it or not play into it.’” He added, “‘It’s going to be something that people enjoy in the same way that we do when we go listen to those songs.’”
Riley also expressed his enjoyment of their on-stage collaborations, noting, “It’s cool to have that one and have that moment on stage with her every night,” referring to their past touring together.
Looking ahead, the ‘I Wish Grandpas Never Died’ singer is preparing for his first non-American tour, set to kick off in the UK and Ireland in September 2025. Green’s decision to embark on a proper European tour follows a successful overseas performance with Ella at BST Hyde Park in 2024, an experience he clearly enjoyed and aims to replicate for his British and Irish fanbase.
