Introduction
Ella Langley and Riley Green’s powerful duet, “You Look Like You Love Me,” has undeniably become one of 2024’s biggest country hits. The track, praised for its raw authenticity and the undeniable chemistry between the two artists, has garnered immense viral success and a nomination for Best Collaboration Song at the People’s Choice Country Awards.
Ahead of the awards show, we spoke with Ella Langley, who shared insights into the song’s impact on her and Green’s careers. The buzz around their on-stage dynamic has led many fans to speculate about their relationship status, and Langley finally addressed the rumors head-on.
Are They Dating? Ella Langley Sets the Record Straight
Despite the palpable connection audiences see, Langley firmly stated, “We’re not dating. We’re just good friends.” She explained that their roots in the Alabama music scene brought them together long before their duet: “Riley was probably the first famous person I ever met. He was playing all the same bars I went to, and I played the same bars as him. It’s cool to see Alabama people winning!”
The undeniable energy between Langley and Green during their performances on Green’s Ain’t My Last Rodeo Tour fueled much of the speculation. Their ability to convey the song’s intimate lyrics with such conviction left fans wondering if their connection extended beyond the stage.
Breaking the Mold and Future Collaborations
Langley revealed that “You Look Like You Love Me” broke traditional country radio norms with its spoken-word verses. “This song broke a lot of rules, going to country radio where there is no singing in the verses,” she told Taste of Country’s Adison Haager. “A lot of people have a mindset on what a radio song is… I don’t think [this] is what people think is a radio song — it’s doing incredible things.”
The song, featured on Langley’s debut studio album Hungover, has soared into the Top 20 on both the Country Airplay and Hot Country Songs charts, winning a CMA Award for Musical Event of the Year and multiple ACM Awards. Both artists expressed immense gratitude for the fan reception, with Langley noting that its success has empowered her to create music she truly loves.
Fans can look forward to more from this dynamic duo! Their new song, “Don’t Mind If I Do,” is expected to be a staple on Green’s upcoming Damn Country Music Tour. Langley was recently announced as an opening act for the tour in a clever promo reminiscent of Smokey and the Bandit. The tour is set to kick off in March 2025, with dates and cities available now.
