Country star Travis Tritt's tour bus sideswiped in deadly crash

Travis Tritt Speaks Out After Horrifying Crash That Claimed Two Lives

Country music star Travis Tritt says he feels “truly blessed to be alive” after his tour bus was involved in a tragic accident that left two people dead. The crash occurred during the early morning hours on May 18 in South Carolina, as Tritt and his team were traveling after a performance in Myrtle Beach.

According to Tritt, the incident happened around 3 a.m. when a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction suddenly collided with another car on Veteran’s Highway. Tritt’s tour bus was struck in the chaos, leaving the singer and his crew shaken but physically unharmed.

In a statement shared shortly after the crash, Tritt expressed deep sorrow for the victims, writing that although he was safe, the loss of life had left him devastated. “Thank God we were protected,” he wrote, “but my heart breaks for those who didn’t make it home tonight.”

Emergency crews quickly responded and confirmed that two fatalities occurred at the scene. One victim was the driver who had been heading the wrong way on the highway. His vehicle collided head-on with a pickup truck, killing a passenger inside. The truck’s driver survived but suffered injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Tritt revealed that his tour bus sustained only minor damage, describing it as having been “sideswiped” during the collision. He also stated that the crash appeared to be caused by a driver who was impaired, and he used the moment to urge fans to take responsibility behind the wheel.

“Please, never drive under the influence,” the singer pleaded. “Lives can be destroyed in an instant.”

The South Carolina Highway Patrol has launched an investigation into the deadly accident. Meanwhile, Tritt moved forward with his tour schedule, which included a performance in Georgia the following night, though he acknowledged that the emotional impact of what he witnessed would stay with him.

As fans continue to send messages of support, Tritt remains focused on honoring the memory of those who tragically lost their lives — a reminder, he says, that every day on the road is a gift not to be taken for granted.
