‘Nobody Wants This’ Season 2 Brings Together Country’s Finest for an Unforgettable Soundtrack 🎬🎶
The highly anticipated second season of Nobody Wants This has officially premiered on Netflix, and with it comes a brand-new 19-track soundtrack that’s already turning heads. The record features an eclectic mix of artists across genres — but it’s country music that shines especially bright this time around, thanks to contributions from Ella Langley, Chris Stapleton, and Kacey Musgraves.
Ella Langley’s contribution, a hauntingly cinematic ballad titled “This Version of Us,” captures the emotional core of the series. Co-written with Jordan Schmidt, Jon Nite, and Zach Kale, the song explores the fragile balance of a relationship that only works under the influence — where both lovers cling to a flawed connection, hoping it might survive as long as neither of them changes. It’s raw, vulnerable, and beautifully tragic — the kind of storytelling that Langley has become known for.
The show itself, loosely inspired by the real-life love story of creator Erin Foster and her husband Simon Tikhman, quickly became a hit with audiences. Blending humor, heartbreak, and authenticity, Nobody Wants This earned three Emmy nominations, including one for Outstanding Comedy Series.
Tikhman, who also serves as co-founder and CEO of The Core Entertainment, worked closely with Interscope Records to curate the soundtrack. Speaking about the process, he shared:
“We wanted the music to mirror the same honesty, wit, and emotion that Erin pours into the story. This soundtrack isn’t just background — it’s a character in itself. Getting it right was deeply personal.”
Interscope’s president of A&R, Sam Riback, echoed the sentiment, noting how easily artists connected with the project:
“The love story at the heart of Nobody Wants This is so compelling that musicians across genres wanted to be part of it. We’re incredibly proud of how this soundtrack came together — it feels both universal and deeply intimate.”
Alongside Langley, Stapleton, and Musgraves, the album also features big names like Selena Gomez, Teddy Swims, and Dermot Kennedy, creating a diverse musical landscape that reflects the emotional highs and lows of the show.
While Nobody Wants This might not have been on every viewer’s radar before, its striking soundtrack — and Langley’s standout performance on “This Version of Us” — might just change that.
Sonically, the track marks a slight departure for Langley, blending her country roots with a sweeping, cinematic sound that feels tailor-made for television. It’s heartfelt, atmospheric, and unmistakably her — and it proves once again that Ella Langley knows how to make country music feel both timeless and fresh.
