Introduction:
Travis Tritt Gets Personal with His New Live Special, A Man and His Guitar – Live From The Franklin Theatre
Country music legend Travis Tritt is making a powerful return with the release of his new live special, A Man and His Guitar – Live From The Franklin Theatre, available Friday (Nov. 18). The project, presented as a DVD and 2-disc CD set, captures the raw magic of Tritt’s acclaimed acoustic show, filmed inside the intimate Franklin Theatre just outside of Nashville.
The special takes fans deep into the heart of Tritt’s artistry, showcasing his stripped-down performances of beloved hits alongside carefully chosen covers that shaped his musical style — including Johnny Cash’s “I Walk the Line” and Gregg Allman’s “Come and Go Blues.” Performing solo, Tritt says, “You’re basically naked up there. It gave me an opportunity to show a side that maybe a lot of people might not be as familiar with.”
Throughout the 24-song set, Tritt revisits timeless favorites like “Help Me Hold On,” “Anymore,” “Best of Intentions,” and “T-R-O-U-B-L-E.” Each song, he notes, takes on new life thanks to the crowd’s energy. “The audience makes them new to me every single night with their reaction and enthusiasm,” he shares.
Adding to the special’s charm, Tritt reunites with longtime friends Marty Stuart and James Otto for memorable performances of “Whiskey Ain’t Workin’” and “Lord Have Mercy on the Working Man.” “I’m thrilled about the opportunity I got to work with both of those guys on this project,” Tritt says. “There’s so many people that have responded to the music that Marty and I have done together over the years.”
Though Tritt plays around 150 shows annually, only about 30 to 35 are acoustic. That makes this project especially meaningful to him. “It feels much more like sitting in my living room, playing music for a bunch of friends,” he explains. “That’s the feel I get from doing these solo acoustic shows — and I think that comes through in this project as well.”
A Man and His Guitar – Live From The Franklin Theatre is now available, featuring two discs packed with 12 songs each, along with a DVD edition offered exclusively on Travis Tritt’s official website. It’s a rare and intimate look at one of country music’s most enduring voices — an artist who continues to bridge tradition, storytelling, and Southern soul with every note.
