Charlie Kirk, who helped build support for Trump among young people, dies after campus shooting

The country music world took to social media Wednesday to react to the shooting death of Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist.

Kirk was shot and killed at a Utah college event in what the governor called a political assassination.
Authorities said Kirk was killed with a single shot from a rooftop on Wednesday. Federal, state and local authorities were still searching for an unidentified shooter and working what they called “multiple active crime scenes.”

Two people were detained Wednesday but neither was determined to be connected to the shooting and both were released, Utah public safety officials said.

“I don’t have the words for this right now,” he posted. “Sad, infuriated, and mostly heartbroken for his wife and kids.”

“This is a heartbreak so many of us will never get over. Charlie was a father, husband, son, friend and so much more. One of the most intelligent people we’ve ever met, fighting for everything right in this world. He put everything on the line to be a voice for those who weren’t able. I admired him. His courage, his intelligence, his faith…. there will truly never be another like him. Charlie you will forever be missed. Trying to find peace in the fact that he’s in heaven shining down on us all, because man he loved Jesus and there’s no doubt that’s what he’s doing,” Brittany Aldean, Jason Aldean’s wife, posted.

“Charlie Kirk was one of the best. Passionate, wise, and fair. He spoke truth, welcomed open dialogue, and sought God’s wisdom daily. It’s heartbreaking to think our world has come to this. Every time I saw him, I felt such pride in his vision and strength,” Lee Greenwood posted.

“I don’t even know what to say anymore. Charlie was one of the greatest young patriots this country has ever seen. Thank you for standing up for what so many of us believe so strongly. May God have mercy on your soul and watch over your precious family,” Parker McCollum posts.

“Who are we? What have we become? This is what political division has created. The media have profited from the great separation. We have been played like a gimp fiddle. I’m sick to my stomach. A young man with kids to raise is dead for speaking his mind as a Christian Conservative. Pretty good guess that someone not of this category just ended his time as a daddy and husband. This could absolutely be strike 2 or even 3 of something nobody wants to see coming. … The value of human life is almost non existent and the pool is almost dry. Sad, sad day. Prayers for his beautiful family. God please give them peace,” Randy Houser posted.
