Ella Langley And Koe Wetzel Step Into The Boxing Ring In 'That's Why We Fight' Music Video - Country Now

Ella Langley and Koe Wetzel Bring the Heat in New “That’s Why We Fight” Video

The fiery duet between Ella Langley and Koe Wetzel is continuing to turn heads, this time with the release of a hard-hitting new music video for their single “That’s Why We Fight.” Gritty, cinematic, and full of adrenaline, the clip gives fans a visual story that matches the song’s raw intensity.

Directed by Wales Toney and filmed at Music City Boxing in Nashville and Vanderbilt University, the video opens with Langley alone in a locker room, gathering herself before a boxing match. Her concentration wavers when she overhears a reporter calling her an “underdog,” but with encouragement from her “coach,” Koe Wetzel, she shakes off the doubt and jumps into training mode. What follows is a mix of sparring sequences, sweat-drenched workouts, and dynamic performance scenes of the two stars trading verses in the ring.

A Duet That Packs a Punch

The song’s narrative mirrors the push-and-pull of a volatile relationship. Langley and Wetzel take on the roles of two lovers who, despite their best efforts, can’t resist the fire that comes from fighting. Instead of breaking them apart, the arguments become the very thing that keeps them together.

“‘That’s Why We Fight’ is about one of those relationships where fighting is the thing that keeps you together,” Langley explained. “It adds a little spice and keeps things interesting. I wouldn’t recommend a relationship like this, but we’ve all had one. I’ve been a fan of Koe for a long time, and it was really cool he jammed on it.”

Written by Langley alongside Brett Tyler, David Garcia, and Joybeth Taylor, the song is driven by scorching guitar riffs and bold, unflinching lyrics. Together, Langley and Wetzel deliver lines like:

“That’s why we fight / Put lightning in the sky / Start smashing every bottle we keep bottled up inside / I take it out on you / Take it out on me too / Yeah we know some hell takes us to heaven every time / That’s why we fight.”

Since its release on April 21 via Columbia Records and Sony Music Nashville, the track has earned more than 16 million global streams and climbed into the Top 5 on Sirius XM’s The Highway Hot 30 Countdown. It also features on Langley’s debut EP Excuse The Mess, an eight-song collection that includes fan favorites like “Country Boy’s Dream Girl,” “Make Me Wanna Smoke,” and “Don’t We All.”

On the Road

Langley has been busy showcasing her new music at festivals across the summer, and she’s gearing up for a major tour this fall. She’ll join Jon Pardi’s Mr. Saturday Night World Tour alongside Midland, Jackson Dean, and Randall King.

Sharing the announcement on social media, Langley wrote: “SO excited to announce that I’ll be joining @jonpardi on the Mr. Saturday Night WORLD TOUR!! 🤯 Can’t wait to rock the stage with these boys all the way from Belfast to Las Vegas. Four months, 33 cities, and lots of new tunes.”

The trek kicks off August 25 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, before making stops across the UK, Netherlands, Germany, Norway, and Sweden. Once back in the U.S., the tour will continue through Kentucky, Georgia, Florida, Texas, and more, wrapping up on November 4 in Billings, Montana.

Before heading overseas, Langley is scheduled to perform at Bulls, Broncs & Bands in Monterey, Tennessee on August 18.

With a breakthrough duet, a critically acclaimed EP, and a packed tour schedule, Ella Langley is proving that she’s one of the most exciting new voices in country music — and she’s only just getting started.
