Introduction

A King, A Friend, and A Final Goodbye

For those who have followed my journey over the years, you’ll likely remember Amy — a wonderful, funny, and passionate friend. Today, I write these words with a heavy heart, as Amy has passed away. She wasn’t just a friend; she was the one who helped me see Elvis Presley in a new light — not only as a music icon, but as a real man beyond the spotlight.

I was already a fan of Elvis before I met Amy. But it was Amy who introduced me to the hidden depths of his life. She read every book, listened to stories from his friends — from Linda to Ginger — and admired him for his music, his heart, and his humanity.

Today, I return to the building where Elvis had a dental appointment on the last night of his life. The place is now silent, almost forgotten, like a fading memory. Yet it was here that Elvis laughed, joked, and even talked about getting braces for Ginger — the woman he planned to marry. He was thinking about the future, not knowing that it would never come.

Amy always said that if anyone could fake his own death and pull it off, it would be Elvis. And now, if he really is on the other side, I hope he reached out his hand to Amy and walked her through the pearly gates, welcoming her with that same warmth she saw in him.

Graceland still stands — its gates open to all who love Elvis. And I believe a part of Amy’s spirit lives there now. Goodbye, Amy. Thank you for helping me see Elvis through the eyes of love and understanding. Rest peacefully with the King. And to anyone reading this — remember, you never know when your last day will come. So love fully, and live completely.
