The Sudden Death of Elvis Presley: Truth, Mystery, and Sealed Documents

Elvis Presley — the “King of Rock & Roll” — passed away suddenly in 1977 at the age of 42, leaving the entire world in shock. But behind what seemed to be a well-explained death lies a web of questions, mystery, and sealed reports that have never been revealed.

On August 16, 1977, Elvis was found unconscious at his Graceland mansion in Memphis, Tennessee. The official statement declared that he died of a heart attack. However, the details in the medical examiner’s report raised many eyebrows. The initial report, just two pages long, was completed by Dr. Jerry Francisco and dated October 20 — nearly two months after Elvis’s passing.

Interestingly, it was Elvis’s father, Vernon Presley, who requested the autopsy — not any law enforcement agency. The results were then sealed and are not scheduled to be released until 2027 — the 50th anniversary of his death.

Even stranger, several key fields in the report — such as weight, body temperature, and height — were left blank. There have been numerous claims that Elvis had gained significant weight toward the end of his life, with estimates putting him at over 350 pounds. In addition, he reportedly suffered from chronic constipation, and rumors suggest he had “megacolon” — a condition where the large intestine becomes abnormally enlarged.

The report listed the cause of death as “hypertensive cardiovascular disease associated with arteriosclerotic heart disease.” However, many speculate that the various medications Elvis was taking — including sedatives and laxatives — may have contributed to his demise. The report also noted a bruise on his face and a surgical scar on his abdomen.

Ginger Alden — Elvis’s girlfriend at the time — was the one who found him unresponsive on the bathroom floor at around 2 p.m. However, the official time of death was listed as 3:30 p.m., which also marked the time he was declared dead on arrival at Baptist Memorial Hospital.

And the autopsy that could potentially explain everything? Still sealed. As 2027 approaches, fans grow increasingly eager for the long-awaited answers surrounding the untimely death of this music icon.
