Hope Feek and the Secret After 36 Years: A Journey Back to Her Roots
Recently, social media was stirred by an emotional revelation from Sarah Hope Feek—the middle daughter of renowned country singer Rory Feek. While many have followed the Feek family’s story for years, what Hope just shared brought a new, deeply personal layer to the narrative—one that moved many and sparked thoughtful reflection.
Hope, now 36 years old, is the second of three sisters: older sister Heidi is two years her senior, and youngest sister Indiana was born in 2014. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Hope revealed that after taking a DNA test, she discovered that Rory—the man who raised her and loved her unconditionally—is not her biological father.
“This is my real dad. His name is BC,” she shared. Over the past six months, Hope and BC have developed a close relationship, finding striking similarities and a natural bond. “It’s so strange how alike we are,” Hope noted.
The story goes back to January 1988, when Rory—then a Marine returning from overseas—learned that his wife Tamara was pregnant. Although he had some doubts when Hope was born appearing more developed than expected, he trusted his wife when she reassured him. He raised Hope as his own and took care of both girls after the marriage ended.
In his memoir This Life I Live, Rory openly admitted his faults in the marriage and described himself as an unfaithful husband. Despite that, he always took full responsibility and dedicated himself to being the best father he could be.
The truth only came to light recently, when Hope reconnected with her birth mother, who finally revealed that BC was her biological father. Amazingly, just 24 hours after hearing the news, BC came to meet her, embraced her, and said, “I love you.” For Hope, it was her first experience of such pure, unconditional love.
Rory, upon learning the truth, wrote a deeply moving blog post reaffirming his unwavering love for Hope. “You are and always will be my daughter,” he wrote. Though saddened that it took decades for the truth to come out, his heart is with Hope and her mother, who had carried the burden of the secret for so long.
Hope also came out as gay in 2018, a revelation that Rory—being a devout Christian—initially struggled with. Still, he has worked to understand and accept his daughter, continuing to show her love and support.
In his final words, Rory reflected: “Life is hard. So is marriage and parenting. But every day, we have the opportunity to change, to grow, and to become who we wish we had been before—to be better dads, better moms, better husbands and wives.”
